Thailand at it's BEST

This is what you think about when Thailand comes to mind! Fun, lots of cute Thai girls and just having the time of your life. This is the vibe that comes across when reading through this guide. It's not a guide in the traditional sense - it's better than that.

Let's be real here: What most guys come to Bangkok or Thailand for is the women, party and sunshine. Understandibly.

Thailand really can be that special place where your dream come true - at least in terms of lifestyle. It's a place where no matter their age, people seems to enjoy themselves. Perhaps it's the culture combined with local hospitality. It's not for nothing that Thailand is called the Land of Smiles!

This is your life. Make it epic!

I wasn't aware that Bangkok was such an amazing playground for online dating. (Only thought paid sex is available, but not so much regular girls). Another thing that stood out was how quickly and easily you are able to meet women. What would otherwise take you years in your regular live can be experienced in a matter of days here in Thailand/Bangkok.

For most of us the flight to Bangkok might be more expensive than going somewhere close by for vacation, but the experience is definitely worth it.

I personally think any men should visit Thailand at least a couple of times in his life. To experience what it feels like to live in abundance of women (even if it's only illusionary). That really does something for you.

Lastly, there's nothing wrong with going to places like Thailand to get women more easily than in your home country. Some people might think that makes you a loser, I disagree and would argue it's actually a smart move.
Hotter women, more easily? Sounds like a good deal.

This is your life anyway, so don't let anyone stop you. Go, have fun!

Single Man's Paradise!

Fairly entertaining read and based on my experience, it's pretty accurate. If you're going to Thailand and partake in adult activities, this should be your how to guide. It's shows how anyone can have a good time there, but also gives valuable advice to avoid trouble and stay safe.

Thailand, or Bangkok for that matter, can really be a paradise on earth, but you gotta know the rules to really enjoy your stay. Taking some of the precautions suggested - especially when meeting girls - is easy and provides calm of mind.

I absolutely loved the honesty. There's an entire chapter where he talks about the failures, the embarrassing moments, where dates didn't go well and the-like. Really fascinating to read as it's rare that you'll find somebody talk about failure that openly. It paints a more realistic picture and shows that while Thailand can be your playground, you'll never get 100% of the girls you meet.

With so many choices (and girls) it's great to have some guidance and this book will definitely same you money by avoiding scams and tourist traps!

Possibly an industry standard Crime Analysis Text

This will be a review of edition 2 as this is the edition I used. There is an edition 3. Given what I know of this book, from attending a presentation by Prof. Boba, and knowing something of her standing within the community; I am confident that edition 3 maintains her standards and improves on the utility of the text.

Crime Analysis with Crime Mapping is the selected text for an online course offering by one of, if not the major professional crime analysis Association. I do not believe that this association is in the business of making product recommendations and I do not have the right to speak for the Association. Even so I suggest that the continued use of this text by this organization constitutes affirmation of the value of Prof. Boba's works beyond any editorial opinion from me.

The field of crime analysis is relatively new, still seeking standards and very much growing. Prof. Boba documents that crime analysis has roots going back at least as far as 1900. The term was defined as far back as 1970s. However the presence of law enforcement positions titled 'crime analyst' and law enforcement units dedicated to crime analysis is still not universal. I have met many people in the field of crime analysis who got there and got there recently by assignment rather than prior training. That is they work in law enforcement somebody walked up to them and said "congratulations you're a crime analyst". This text provides excellent introductory and intermediate level instructions on the vocabulary of crime analysis and practical insights into the practice crime analysis I strongly recommend this as one of a very small number of books that such a lucky person should study when assigned to be a Crime Analyst.

On the chance you are not familiar with the term crime analysis and are looking at this book while thinking of such television shows as NCIS; crime analysis may not be what you think. Crime analysts are not laboratory technicians dealing with machines like mass spectrometers. Crime analyst deal with a variety of issues mostly associated with data. Typical crime analyst duties may range from producing crime bulletins to more highly technical activities such as creating statistical and mapping software. It is not unknown to find the same person working duties across this spectrum in a single workweek.
Based on my own experience and preferences I would have liked more time spent on the subject of crime mapping. This is a differance on a matter of degree rather than substance.

At $60 for this copy and more for the newer edition this is not an inexpensive book. My copy was purchased through Amazon as a secondhand book. To Amazon's credit it arrived in exactly the condition promised. Even with my additional use this copy still has life in it.

It's a textbook, but one of the better ones

As textbooks go, this is on the high end of usefulness. Boba Santos is clearly an expert in the field, so the information is as good as you'd expect. The real winner here is the layout of the information - it flows logically, it's easy to follow. This is a complex field, and this text serves as an excellent primer for an introductory course.

This was a text for a crime analysis class I took and was not interested in prior to. However, the text was really interesting and offered a lot of useful information. I think Rachel Santos did a fantastic job presenting the information as well as the research for it. Anyone looking into crime analysis would benefit from reading this book.

Re: A brilliant, seminal, page turner

Other reviews have discussed the content and so i won't repeat.

I agree that this is a brilliant, siminal work and one that should be read by all interested in both the middle ages as well as those interested in the "decline and fall" of roman antiquity as well as the rise of "modern" Europe. The best work of history i have read in some time (the last one being Peter Heather's Empires and Barbarians)

It is impossible to be anything less than in awe of McCormick's command not only of a tremendous amount of data (from archaeological finds of coins, pottery etc., to diaries of travelers as well as Church records/documents etc) but also his "smarts" in how to use such data in trying to understand what it tells us and what patterns if any it reveals. So, for example, when examining the issue of trade one of the things McCormick looks at are ingredients included in medical book remedies surmising that ingredients included that were not local had to at least known about and in all probability at least somewhat available or they would not have been included. The inclusion of many maps throughout and tables throughout the text also are extremely helpful in that they make it much easier for the reader to visualize the trade and communication routes and patterns that McCormick is discussing as well as to tally up numerous discreet pieces of documentary evidence that he is examining to demonstrate its cumulative weight.

Despite it's length (over 800 pages in text plus nearly 200 pages in appendixes), this is a wonderful read (a page turner that i couldn't put down and plowed through in 2 weeks) that gives the reader much to chew on not only for the period that McCormick is looking at e.g., since McCormick argues that slavery does not die out at the end of antiquity and in many ways forms the economic basis for much of the early medieval European economy (providing the major source of the money that Europeans used to purchase goods from the east) i think it forces us to reexamine the whole notion of slavery and it's "rise" in the feudal/early modern era i.e., slavery is much more of a continuum from antiquity through the 19th century (and indeed through to today since there are probably more slaves in absolute numbers today than there were during its supposed "heyday") though the places where it was "centered" changed as did the ideology that propped it up.

McCormick is also refreshingly modest despite his exhaustive research and command of the material he is looking at and more often than not makes his conclusions provisional based on the state of the evidence at this time (as well as acknowledging that there are languages that he does not speak and therefore was not able to examine source material directly) or even that no "definitive" conclusion can be made one way or the other though the evidence may suggest a likely conclusions or several reasonable possible conclusions. He is also extremely respectful of and kind to other scholars (openly acknowledging their owrk and ideas) including those with whom he may disagree so e.g., though he is in many ways picking up on, responding to and critiquing the work of Henri Pirenne, McCormick winds up by saying that in the end Pirenne may be right at the same time that he was wrong i.g., that there would indeed have been no Charlemagne without Muhammed but perhaps not for the reasons Pirenne believed. In a world in which people are often less than kind and often downright disrespectful towards those with whom they disagree, this was also a welcome plus in McCormick's writing.

It is a crime that the publisher has not issued this amazing work in an affordable paperback addition. The list price is truly outrageous but, that having been said, for those that can afford the hefty purchase price and are interested in medieval European history and beyond it's a must read.

Great read but Cambridge makes shoddy books.

Showed up missing the first 45 pages. OK. Read most of them in an online file. I'm not even to page 400 and the binding has separated from the pages. For the cost of this book this is ridiculous. I'm never buying from Cambridge again.

It's a fascinating history and I recommend reading the book if you can find it in a library or something but I've never had problems like this with a book.
